After a few hours of relaxation after lunch, we will head to the blue shores of Lake Natron to see hundreds of white and pink flamingos at sunset.
Looking towards the backdrop of the lake, you will notice the sacred mountain of every Massai, Oldoinyo Lengai, a volcano that is still active. The Massai consider this place the home of their own divinity and it is here that they perform sacred ceremonies and rituals at certain times in their lives. The summit is climbed by the Masai at the end of a long ritual period of groups of young people who then become adults. A spectacular view from the top. You will be mesmerised by the magnificence of Kilimanjaro, the plain of the Serengeti park, and lava behind us inside the cone.
Optionally, for the more intrepid early risers, you wake up around one o’clock at night and hike on the volcano. The last eruption took place in April 2008, and today it has been reopened to the public. The fact remains that like every active volcano there is always the risk of an eruption.
